>>123402964I'm a big fan of colorists, since I'm a colorist myself. Dean White rocked Marvel for a while - he made Romita Jr. look godlike in Bendis' Avengers and Slott's Spider-Man. You might remember him from Remember's Uncanny X-Force. Nowadays he does Black Science - he's a big Remender collaborator. Even his American Carnage was great, and he just used flats there.
He only failed in Kick Ass, IMO. Everything was awfully hurried and spilled over there.
Ive Svorcina is his closest succesor. King Thor looked really, really good - he's Esad Ribic's frequent colorist, but I don't think he's quite at White's level. Check out White and Ribic in Hickman's Ultimates.
On the more mainstream side, Justin Ponsor was a GOD. He made everything look like a movie. His death was a great tragedy, and sadly, Laura Martin can't quite follow on his footsteps, but she clearly tries.
>>123400326Sinclair is clearly past his prime. He was great for a while - his occassional pages in 52 were awe-inspiring, and Final Crisis, too - but he's just in autopilot nowadays. It was greatly refreshing to see Tamra Bonvillain color Jim Lee for that one cover. I hope they become collaborators, because Tamra deserves it. From a breakout coloring job in Moon-Girl, she did Captain Marvel and then quickly moved upwards, coloring fucking Dan Mora in Once and Future and now Marques in Bendis' Justice League. I love her.
Sticking to the thread's apparent theme, colorists that ruin an artist? Jordie Bellaire with Mike Hawthorne. Mike's pencils look like Murata or something before he's ruined. Same with basically any colorist for Hitch. Mostly Sinclair ruined him, but now other colorists have taken shots at him and it's all different shades of shit. It's weird, because then he uploads his original pencils and it looks like his old art. I wonder what's going wrong there.
