Series as a whole is good and managed to do great visual story telling, deliver satisfying action scenes, and was able to tell an interesting story in each episode

Because Genndy is a master of slow boring things that build up to something amazing. He is the only animator I know who can have a boring scene of a deer in the woods and keep me on tenterhooks the whole time. He is a musician who knows quiet can add to a song.

I personally would've liked it if he settled for killing Aku in the future rather than the past, and having to learn to settle with his life in the future. Its just a strange feeling knowing that all the connections Jack’s made with all those people have essentially disappeared. Or if they made the Portal the Blue Guy was protecting more relevant

The first few episodes were fantastic, but desu it really shat itself when the Ghost Samurai turned out to be nothing, and the ending was a big disappointment. I enjoyed it at the time because everybody else did, it was a "fire feeding the fire" kind of situation, but in hindsight I agree with what pic related posited, and I think adapting the comic's ending and showing Jack and Ashi helping rebuild society in the future would've made for a better finale.

We don't know that. All they needed to do was put in a 10 second montage or even just a slideshow of people in the future living their lives in peace, but their situation is left entirely ambiguous. What we're shown is Ashi being erased from existence, which could be because she prevented her own father from spawning her, or could be because that entire timeline now can't exist.

Yeah I know, but I would have loved to actually SEE it. See a better future, see the shitty apocalyptic hellzone replaced with something better, see the characters we know living happy lives or at least some sort of visual implication of it. The fact that they were all just tossed aside and didn't even get to say goodbye to Jack just soured the experience further for me

Yeah the entire focus is devoted to Jack simping for Ashi.

Jack spent 50+ years in the futures with his friends, yet he doesn't waste an ounce of thought on them potentially getting deleted from existence. He doesn't give a fuck about reuniting with his family is the past either. He doesn't give a single fuck because all he cares about is Ashi.

That totally ruined the entire show.

This. And this show isn't even his best. Primal is such a great series. Genndy has this uncanny power to express EVERYTHING with little to no speaking. If anything embodies the medium of animation it's that. Show don't tell. That's why this is a cartoon.

There should be a follow up special showing the future world where everyone is reincarnated living peaceful and normal lives. Scaramouche works as a musician, Scotsman is a family man with lots of kids, etc. and Jack's immortality lets him secretly watch the world he saved while he is remembered as a hero.
