No, I'm a miserable fuck who was cheated out of the mythological space opera drama I was supposed to get and was instead delivered a MASSIVELY boring flick with unceasing low-brow humor.

I'm typically an MCU guy, but Ragnarok was easily the only one of them genuinely dislike.

The Thor franchise is dead, live action for sure but in the comics too. I wish I lived in a timeline I could be excited for the Loki solo series but I know better then to have any hope that any piece of media will be satisfying anymore. At least when you always expect the worst, there is room to be pleasantly surprised instead of constantly disappointed.

I'm sorry if I don't enjoy 90% of the film's emotional moments being completely undercut by #relatable awkward jokes and slapstick. I'm sorry I'm disappointed that the MCU cares so little for the Warrior's Three that they don't even have a scene of Thor reacting to news of their blink and you'll miss it deaths. I'm sorry that the genuinely dark and compelling 'Planet Hulk' storyline was glued onto this movie, dumbed down to hell, and once again went out of its way to avoid any depth concerning Bruce & Hulk's duality. I'm sorry that Lady Sif was supplanted by a suddenly very important character who is Valkyrie in name only, and on top of that wasn't even seen or mentioned. I'm sorry that the only halfway decent Thor movie was the first one because it was the only once that tried to treat the character as being from another fantastical world instead of just being a meathead frat bro. I'm sorry that I don't like the long awaited Surtur being a plot device that's not even treated with any real emotional weight.

I liked it.
emphasis on liked, as in I used to.
the movie is the origin of that quippy MCU dialogue writing style that has no engulfed and absorbed fucking everything.
It worked well in this film since Thor and Hulk and Thor and Loki are natural foils and competitive. So bouncing quippy one-liners off of each other was fun.
but then this shit became so god damn formulaic and prevalent that I can't stand it anywhere anymore, including in Ragnarok.
