>>122935318>How, anon, did they exactly ruin Glomgold, Phantom Blot, Magica DeSpell, and the Nephews?
Since that anon is regurgitating opinions that I (and I'm guessing other anons) posted from threads past, I'll answer to these since they are mine.>Glomgold
He went from Scrooge's most dangeous enemy, a dark reflection of what Scrooge could easily become, to a clown. Counts as ruined in my book, even if he is great otherwise. Should have just made a new character.>Phantom Blot
Again, the Blot already has an established shtick as a nefarious thief and Mickey's arch-nemesis (don't tell Pete). Here, he is an anti-magic klansman. Again, why not make a new character?>Magica DeSpell
My personal favourite. Magica DeSpell, as written by Carl Barks (her DAD) and Don Rosa, is a crafty bitch who stops at nothing to obtain Scrooge's #1 dime. Her being a "sorceress" is actually not her primarily trait and you could argue that she doesn't have any inherent magic at all. She uses technology, disguises, magical artifacts, potions and her trademark bombs to torment Scrooge endlessly.
In DT17, she is a generic "ancient evil" who shoots energy beams, flies/floats constantly and just YAWN. Original Magica is much more subtle, and yet, all the more grandiose. Certainly ruined, in my opinion.>Nephews
What can I say that others haven't already? HLD are one character. They don't need separate personalities. Not to mention, the ones they chose are awful.
Dewey is consistently obnoxious, Louie is a one-note joke that keeps repeating and Huey is basically a (bad) parody of the original nephews.
Out of all the legacy characters, the nephews have the most room to grow. But this ain't it chief. Fucking Quack Pack handled them better.
