Indeed, this is a reference to the "cancel culture" movement, where people, mostly left leaning, try to have people they dislike, often right leaning, fired or otherwise defamed because of their political opinions.
Otherall the comic is making fun of the hypocrisy of the man, who is having someone paid minimun wage fired for his political opinions while protesting for good wages.
