It is seems more than ever that /co related media is trying to seriously tackle "adult" issues like genocide and terrorism. Yet one area that /co remains juvenile and outright stereotypical is it mental illness. Mental illness tends to be portrayed as either something that allows someone to avoid the consequences of their actions (ex. Wandavision) or something that proves they were born evil and/or irredeemable (ex. a lot of Batman's rouge gallery) when environmental factors are just as salient if not more.
