As long as you don't compare it to the original than its ok for its own stand alone series, its not trying to be like Harvey Birdman at all which has left a lot of people disappointed

I gave it a shot and I honestly regretted the time I put into it.

Especially compared to that other show that had the wacky-lead with no sense of self-preservation or common sense. ...Fuck what was it's name. Titular space-ship. A robot that got killed and backed up to the spare and had this whole existential crisis. The lonely station girl. Robot nation and that evil bird thing.

Tribore is just there to be funny. The actual gay character hasn't been revealed yet. It's probably Lil Cato because I can't think of who else it would be. Quinn and Gary love each other, Sheryl is straight, Avocato had a wife at one point, Hue is an AI, and Fox is probably going to die next episode. It could be Ash, but Lil Cato would be more interesting since he's the rightful King of Ventrexia. It would make for an interesting plot line where Lil Cato ends up dooming the royal bloodline just because he's not into women. And I'm not making this up, Olan has been saying that one of the characters is gay for a while now.

What are you talking about? She's been the pillar of the season. Rescuing the Cato team when it was captured by Lord Little, being the ace pilot consistently getting them out of impossible situations, quickly coming up with the plan to mine the asteroid. Sure it's not flashy, but she's the badass keeping the team alive and functional.

And considering how previously she was constantly betraying and running away, having her sit by her son's side, being dependable even though she knows most of this shit is insane and probably pointless is a good development for her.

I mean charater wise. She does things to save the day but it feels like what AVA was doing last season. She does things but I havent really gotten a read on how she feels about the situation emotionally until this episode. Which I guess is expected when your cast is pushing 10+ characters, some people will just have their emotional beats put off for later in the season.

The Quinn to Nightfall thing was kino though. It also opens up the idea that Quinn will grapple with the fact that Gary is destined to die for Nightfall and what that means for her.

I LIKED Tribore. Which is the tragedy of it. He worked great as a random background character who stole way more screentime and focus than was warranted for his character. That was the joke. Unfortunately they ran it into the ground and now with him staring the B-Plot of an entire Season, it feels less like subversion and more like wankery over how great Olan thinks the character is.

I'd argue every single character worked best in their season 1 incarnation. Don't get me wrong I'm really enjoying the direction season 3 is taking most of the cast. But the issue of taking a short series and adding more seasons is you have to take these ideas and flesh them out. Tribore as a background character who completely evolves in the last couple episodes is fantastic. But now we're stuck with him...being that. Gary and Quinn being at odds and slowly opening up to each other is good, but now that they're back together you've gotta figure out what you're gonna have them do together. Potential is fun. Setup is fun. Fleshing shit out is hard and you will never have a reveal as interesting as what came first.

Kevin is extremely annoying, but that's the joke and everyone hates him for it. Tribore gets away with being annoying, well liked, a huge badass and a mover and shaker of the plot outside the space of the main characters. Which is also the joke I guess, but I at least understand the earlier joke and think its used better. Nightfall was way better in season 2, and I think Quinn is also the best now, as a fleshed out character than just as the Love Interest that's being pursued. Outside Tribore the only person I'd say was best in Season 1 for sure is HUE, but I at least like him more now than in S2

I actually like that bit quite a lot. I just think it would have been better delivered if they had honestly fucked off the entire season aside from maybe one C plot only to come back in the finale with another resistance.

Does Little Cato even have a reason to exist anymore? During S2 his potential was squandered and he was just Avocato 2.0 and now that the real Avocato is back there doesnt seem to be any use for his character at all
