The show very much appeals to the average American female's sense of humor, and as a result it ends up being kind of toothless and lacks any edge whatsoever.
There's a good middle ground between "boring and toothless" and "over-the-top edge," and I'd argue that the original show struck that ground pretty well.
On an edginess scale, with "modern American standup comedy performed by anyone under the age of 25" on the bottom, and Drawn Together on the top, Harvey Birdman is smack dab in the middle, whereas this show would be at the midway point between Birdman and the bottom of the scale.
