>>122267799Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres. Their Valerian and Laurelin got more international exposure recently due to a bad filem. It's great time travelling scifi with a light touch - in art as in stories. It's supposed to get a bit preachy in later installments, but I haven't been there yet.
Jean Van Hamme and Grzegorz Rosi?ski's Thorgal is straight fantasy that I've been enjoying quite a bit lately. Later Rosi?ski is switching to a water colour style I'm not that fond of, but the inks in the early stuff are a joy.
Less straight plotting with The Quest for the Time-Bird by Regis Loisel. Masterful artist with a detailed whimsical style. His faces can get a little cutesy, but if you like The Dark Crystal the time Bird is a must.
If you're up for insane autist level craft: Andreas (Martens). His Lovecraftian Cromwell Stone is one of the more accessible works.
