Probably the weakest part of the storyline is when the text boxes tell the reader what they SHOULD think about Tara. It came off as try-hard, you should never tell the readers what they ought to think. Otherwise it’s a great storyline but that part always bugged me. I’m not even that sympathetic towards Tara but I hate being told how I should feel.

that's not what this situation is. i would be ok with black panther being captured by a government, including the american government, and tortured. it would even make sense black panther to have literally the exact same panels that superman red and blue had, but replace Nikolai Klosov with some FBI agent or something. honestly what i just pitched would work better and be more impactful than the superman one since the american government did in fact do those things

The Katana issue really exposes the limitations of this series. The first two issues were about black Americans, and it's fine for Ridley to write about them, he's a black American, he has some knowledge there. But the Katana issue paints Tatsu as a mentally unstable sociopath who enjoys cutting people up and claims Batman is probably a murderer whose killings are covered up in Gotham, despite Katana usually being loyal to Batman. It's then that you realize that this is just a black guy trying to put his personal grievances in the mouth of a character he doesn't have a connection to.
