Basically, he's a meathead.
He's not as much of a meathead as Guy though, so he doesn't have Guy's stupid charm. He's anal and straightforward about things so he's not as god in that role as animated John either. He's 'one of the guys' but not as, how shall we put it, approachable as Kyle so he's more of a jock than a true bro without, again, being extreme/oddly likable jockish like Guy.
He's basically the 'jack of all trades but master of none' of Lanterns regarding personality, so he's just kinda... there and somewhat coasting off his status as a Silver Age stalwart to make up for it.
