Barry sort of just gets handed this power for free in the narrative, in that he gets all of the benefits of having run so fast as to stop time even when he isn't fucking moving. Like, he stops time before the shockwave obliterates him despite just standing there gormlessly for about a minute.
And then he just kind of starts talking to himself, but the lines just don't work in context. Here he is trying to save the world and not die, and he's focused on... making his dad who isn't even there proud? How is that the important thing on your mind right now, Barry?
Its got all the ingredients of a scene that should be cool or have impact, but its just not working.
