This is weird, right, it's not just me? I just assumed this was new for both of them so the subtext of Elliot teaching Clinton doesn't really double entendre at all.

The "subtext" seems mega forced to the point of not even being innuendo or reference but just the suggestion of spending time together. Aurelia bringing up girls liking kitchen skills makes the cough seem to be out of mom-related embarrassment and orientation confusion rather than seeming lewd. Also Clinton wanting to experiment with Elliot is known and Elliot liking him back, so it's not really a shock. It would probably work better if they both had feelings they were hiding and this was their first expression that they'd reciprocate it.

Like, there's probably a specific baking technique or dish that would've elevated this to actually seeming like propositioning. Kneading for example has a physical manipulation that is strong and dexterous that has evokes massage that could've been good.

Not really. I don’t think Clinton ever positively committed either way whether he would or would not ready to do gay experiment stuff, just that he wasn’t ready to immediately shut Elliot down and that he wanted time to process it and to spend time together getting to know each other before giving an answer. This is him giving an answer, right in front of him mom for some weird reason.

But you’re right, this dialogue is fucking awkward and odd in all kinds of ways.

Yeah I'm a little too baked for my own good and the character names never stuck with me. I've just seen this comic every day on /co/ and I mainly stuck around after he stabbed himself to see how much darker it would get, but I rarely read anything about the actual creator's personal life (which I imagine has been leaked out here and there by himself or other people).
