We don't really know anything about what they wanted to do with Chris, maybe they would have given him specialized lessons to manage his tism or maybe they would have put him in with the downys to watch Barney all day as Bob feared. Either way it's clear that he was too old to be dealing with another kid, I wonder how much of Chris's adolescence was colored by having a dad who was already in his 50's by the time he was born? I can't imagine him having the energy to give a baby or a toddler the full attention they need.
