It fed into another theory, where civilizations in Amphibia are cyclical for around a millennia or so, after which there's a turning of the cycle (probably caused by the *calamity* box), and then a new race gets the turn to be the dominant civilization. Basically have a circle of
>Frog - Newt - Toadthat turns over a millennia, with one race in power and one race declined. It would go far in showing why newts are currently the top of the social order and frogs are at the bottom, toads in the middle.
So if the past 1000 years the newts have been the dominant race, and the 1000 years before that might have been the frogs as the dominant race, then the next 1000 years will be the toads as the dominant race. Grime's toad revolution, perhaps? Toads become the new ruling race, newts the bottom race, and frogs move to the middle.
Either way, it would coincide with use of the box.
