You can't show a speedster doing something like solving a 500 piece puzzle in 3 seconds, then later have him try punching a brick villain a hundred times and it doing nothing, only to get blown away by a big punch.
A speedster would notice that punches don't work on the first punch. But they could also drive long needles into their eyes to blind or kill them. If you're trying to shoot a speedster, they have minutes of relative time to move across the entire battlefield before you've even raised up your arm.
Superspeed with the reaction time to take advantage of it is an absolutely broken combo. But writers ignore that when they need to not have all their plots solved in under a minute.
