You probably don't have the draw weight that these guys are supposed to have either, so if you do get dinged it's not as big of a deal. If you're gearing up a whole outfit and shit I could see putting on some arm guard on just to make sure your aim doesn't get compromised by a miniscule degree after you get dinged once or twice because your stance was thrown off by a tackle or explosion or dodging right after you let go.
But then again I don't see why it would be such a visible one when he's wearing a leather jacket where you'd just add some padding. Which is exactly why having archer characters be sleeveless is the way to go, because it lets you incorporate an arm guard in the fashion of a cool vambrace that signals itself as an archery-type thing as well as could function as a holder for interchangeable tips or a control unit for making them explode etc. Hell, make it look armoured enough and you could get away with the dude shielding himself from attacks with that arm while he readies and arrow with his right.
