>>120548217Marvel is different because Marvel was intended to be subversive to DC, who essentially solidified the classic and ideal heroes we look up to today. DC intended their characters to be icons and role models and larger than life in the wake of WW2. To DC, powers are a blessing and the world is at your fingertips, a world of tomorrow. DC played it safe with the censorship and adapted to stay alive. Issues surrounding characters are more internal than external.
But with Marvel, it's different - far more grounded issues and characters, external issues over internal ones, characters making their own lives harder, where powers have negative consequences and act as a "curse" with heaps of body horror. Marvel intentionally went into weird and bizarre directions to skirt around the censorship and challenge it, to see what they could get away with.
