But because implying that a show/book/movie has genuinely scary moments can make it sound cool/interesting, some users stretch the definition of "scary" to absurd degrees, to the point that external observers like /co/ think that TVTropes is full of wusses, and not full of basically chuuniboys or self-conscious people.

By the way, TVTropes has a pretty strict policy on what actually count as "Nightmare Fuel". So the reputation is rather undeserved.
