I seriously hope that those aspects of Alastor's character are purged with extreme prejudice
Their's ways of making evil character's sympathetic, but you can't do that by fundamentally contradicting what makes them evil in the first place.
Presumably Alastor is a psychopath, which would mean it's impossible for him to have a moral compass, since morality is derived from social norms and empathy, both things psychopaths either don't care about or lack. It could be an interesting conundrum for Charlie, who immediately jumps in trying to redeem Alastor, wrongfully assuming that it was just his upbringing that caused him to be the way he is.
If Vivzie and the writers really wanted to try something risky, they could show that Alastor, unlike many fanon interpretations suggest, had an incredibly easy life of privilege, with two very loving an attentive parents that never noticed their son was a psychopath. No tragic backstory, no rags to riches, no mother dying of pneumonia, no abusive dad, just a sick, twisted spoiled monster that should've been killed the moment he began torturing animals (this isn't canon, its just a common psycho trait)
