Like I don't think 10 year olds need cell phones, but I get that there is pressure to fit in when 90% of the other kids have one. And they so serve a utility of keeping kids in contact with their parents, especially now that payphones have disappeared.
But a god damn baby? Just give them some $5 plastic toy that lights up. Even toddlers and 6 year olds. They aren't going to automatically melt down if their brain isn't constantly stimulated.
Tantrum prone kids are still going to cause disruptions. And sometimes tantrums are just a poorly conveyed signal to parents.
"You've been dragging me around the mall for 6 hours and I am tired and hungry and I want to get the hell out of here and if I were older I would have just said that, but I am fucking 3 years old and my brain is too exhausted to articulate with limited vocabulary. I've said 'wanna go home' more times than I can count and you've done nothing but ignore me, as such my only recourse is to cry because I am DONE."
