When Ford calls McGucket to work with him later, a part of him is kinda excited to be back with him, all alone, in the woods, but being married, he pushes this feeling to the back of his mind.
Later, when Ford's stuck in his creepy worshipping Bill Cipher phase, that feeling of missing him in that certain way, along with the fact that he'd never seemed to emotionally reciprocate compounds onto his already brewing resentment, and in the latter, stressful part of building the portal, he ends up hating him a little.
