But to humor you, Jean Grey's very much the madonna figurehead of the group. She's the counterpoint to Scott's leadership, only in contrast to his internalizing that role, she's always been an average woman at heart. Her personal goals have always been more simplistic in scope, for better and worse. But like Scott, she tries to put those needs aside in order to fulfill that aspect of the X-Men being the embodiment of Xavier's dream. Her relatively performative role is also in stark contrast to someone like Susan Storm, who naturally evolved into the role of Team Mom for her group and the hero community at large.
It may not be what you find entertaining, but it's what's been built up over the decades.
