>>119666087>that more of them will sell movies on their own the wayNot to sound too cynical but bullshit. Hollywood doesn't care about diversity. It is an entrenched system. When people talk about Marvel's Black Panther as some big thing, you think about a movie like Blade decades before not being hyped up as much (having a Black superhero). Diverse casting is a smokescreen, a marketing gimmick, for the same old stories to be told by the same people. Oh they throw bones out here and there with "exciting" new young actors taking roles but most of them go no where.
Maybe I am just sick of a damn marketing gimmick being used as an excuse for movies. Casting calls were never as massive a news story as they are now. And it just seems to take away from the fact that there are barely any decent, creative or original films these days.
If it was really about letting people make their own way then the real change would be behind the scenes in all other positions in the industry. This is all just token casting. So someone in an interview can mention it as if they have solved the problem.
All of this casting stuff claiming that we found the right actor for the job is bullshit. Executives are playing a game based on what they think people want from specific twitter bubbles and demographics.
