The days are growing colder and the nights are getting longer. Finally after (what seems like) 100 years the /co/ christmas cheer threads are back.
As previous years share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. If you frequent the threads please don't spam your list number, if you want to keep sharing it please only post it once per thread. Just because you've posted your list doesn't mean someone will purchase you a gift. It's random how Anon's will choose who to buy for. But please take a look through some of the lists and see if there's anyone/thing you want to gift.
To share a list click on “Send lists to others” in the top right of the wishlist then click “View only”. If you use the “View and Edit” Anyone using that code will be able to add and remove items from you list.
If you are using one of the international versions of Amazon please let us know when you post your list.

I don't need to say how bad this year has been. There were recent days where looking forward to these threads again was what kept me going, and my personal ordeals still aren't quite over yet. It's the most wonderful time of the year once again! As always, we'll have a 24/h stream set up full of animated Christmas movies and festive specials. Previously we've relied on Watch2gether and Youtube but this year we're going all out. As it's been a shit of a time for everyone and a lot more will no doubt be on their lonesome, this year we're going to be on vaughn.live with a massive 190+ gigs worth of festive cheer for your eyeballs to enjoy. Would it be weird if I said I don't really mind this year all that much?>job was deemed "essential enough" that I never had to worry >because of the additional health & safety measures implemented, the speed went down, meaning more overtime money and longer employment (usually they scale down in November, now we're guaranteed work until Christmas, maybe even in January) >Additionally don't need to listen to co-workers flapping their gums about some inane bullshit thanks to social distancing >went to college to get GCSEs to put on my CV and maybe gt a better job, they sent me to Functional Skills and ESL instead, but I'll claw my way up once I ace the early exam sittings >All the ugly people are required by law to wear masks now, so grocery shopping has been more enjoyable >got three crumbling teeth removed, now I can enjoy snickers again without having to carry a toothpick everywhere The only problem is, after visiting abroad earlier this month I needed to stay home for two weeks and I'm gaining weight again. Calendar Man
Fabulous Friday, Friends!
This year I'll be going secular, for the most part. Did you know that November 27th was the scene of one of the greatest "just a prank, bro!"s in history? The Berners Street Hoax took place on November 27th, 1809, when Ted Hook ordered hundreds, if not thousands of services to 54 Berners Street in London, where someone completely unconnected lived - from chimney sweeps all the way up to the Archbishop of Canterbury, which caused a giant street congestion into the late hours of the day. As far as I can tell, Teddy boy got away unscathed.
Americans, of course, resent being one-upped by Brits, and decided to prove they can jam up the streets just as well, if not better. And so, on November 27th 1924, the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in New York. Which reminds me, was there even one this year, with the lockdowns and all that?
And finally, let's inject some culture and music into the thread, because on November 27th, 1896, Richard Strauss went out and said to the audience in Frankfurt: "check this shit out though":

>>119278623 I would be ashamed if I had a "man cave". It reminds me of hen pecked men who end up in the broom closet having to share his hobby space with the hoover and the extra towels. Having an office, a hobby room or a shed to work in is different to a man cave in my head. One is a place to escape the family and spend time alone, the other is the space your wife let you have because she doesn't want your hobby in public view.

I use my office for my comics so I don't really see the big deal. Also, it not being "okay" is your own opinion. There are plenty of people who have rooms dedicated to their hobbies. Hell, I was thinking about building myself a gym in the basement, would that also not be okay?

>>119286924 I really liked Drifting Classroom, been meaning to pick up the hcs for a while now. I've been reading just a bunch of manga. Still reading the ones I was last year like MHA/Vigilantes, OPM, Golden Kamuy, Goblin Slayer, etc. Some finished like Demon Slayer and Promised Neverland. Picked up Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Spy x Family. I watched Jojo for the first time the year and really liked it, so I've been meaning to pick that up as well. I also subbed to Jimmy Olsen on comixology for its run, good stuff.
As an aside, Lieber did a a panel with Swamp Thing as a bouncer for a fetish club who he dubbed "Swamp Thong" and I thought it was hilarious, so I customized a figure and sent it to him.

I'm actually happy older stuff is getting rereleases. All the Dark Horse deluxes are excellent (Berserk, Hellsing, Blade of the Immortal), I've been trying to keep up with those. Shaman King is getting an omnibus release (paperback though, booo). Pokemon Adventures has a collector's edition run that collects a few volumes in each (also paperback, but reviews seem like it's sturdy enough).
I also read a manga called My Broken Mariko the other day, apparently the English release was just a couple weeks ago. Fairly short, fairly sad tale, but a good read.

I’m pissed anons. I still have cable, and they were showing The Grinch, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is Comin to Town on different channels at the same time. No way to watch them all live this year, had to just pick one. That’s bad enough, but I went with SCiCtT, and they flat out cut my favorite song in the movie. The entire sequence. It’s like every year they cut out more and more from these specials to fit in more commercials. I was looking forward to it and now Christmas is ruined! Maybe the cable companies are actively trying to drive away the few subscribers they have left so they have to pick up streaming.

Hey there, folks. Good to see y'all again, haven't posted in a while mainly because of work and also the fact that I still don't have a pass, so the whole point of showing up to post storytimes is moot, all thanks to Hiroyuki and their unwillingness to add better payment methods to obtain that dumb pass. So far I've posted here and there as anon although not as often as I'd like to, which I gotta say, considering the poor state of the board and the fact that one or two of you decided to be shitty and doxxed me some weeks ago just for having opinions, it did make me say "fuck it" and share my thoughts with friends only, elsewhere. No hard feelings at this point though, but I had to say it because it wasn't nice, considering the circumstances. Either way, while I haven't read most of the thread, I do get the same general impression that this year made a number on everyone and obviously many of you feel as jaded as I am, others are just trying to stay cheery and that's great. So I figured I'd do my part, even though I didn't get to buy all the comics and stuff I wanted this year, I would at least help others, spread the joy and all that. Some of you deserve it. Given my restrictions to buy stuff through Amazon (not entirely impossible but certainly a hassle), I figured I'd switch things up and gift something a little different. So this year I'm giving away a Nintendo Store gift card for those of you who are gamers, so you can buy something nice for yourselves. I might make a game of it, though! I just need to figure that part out first, but I do have plans to give away the gift card, for sure. I'll keep you posted. Probably a series of riddles, or a quest... We'll see. Last but not least, here's my Amazon wishlist: 39BJO2Q9NS6O3, I still need to clean up some old items in there and add a few other things, but that's roughly what I'm into. I'll be around, and sorry for the long post.

Cheer is the songs that pop in your head while thinking of snowy landscapes.
Cheer is the movies and cartoons you watch covered in blankets.

it is the feeling you get when someone posts their art!
Cheer is what you get when you get someone to smile.
Is there when you see your friends of cheer threads gone by.
Greeting and chatting around, sharing experiences of that which they've found.
You get cheered seen others be jolly and merry
And laugh at them stuck in a puzzle being sorry.
Cheer you get from making food for your family,
even when it all goes wrong and you have order
in a hurry.
Storytimes shared are cheer from other anons
even if posting page for page can be a pain in the anus.
Specials, streams, movies and cartoons
cheer is everywhere if you look even in the moons.
Cheer is showing someone that you care,
That they matter because they are still here.
And of course, cheer is giving someone something they wish for, company, a song, a drawing, or yes a comic book from amazon or something more.

Last I read DD was... Waid? I think. Maybe the team that followed him that turned me off from the series.
I am extremely behind on everything Image. I think the last series I read was that Scottie Young written book. Actually, I did enjoy that.

>>119295077 I'm not wanting to sound like I am attacking you, but if you say you didn't like any comics this year and never read them it just seams like you don't WANT to like new comics. POFG

>>119295157 I wouldn't call it a breaking point. I have not read Sandman yet, so I don't have much history with it and I don't know how deep the lore goes in these current comics. Am I going to be lost reading these books because I haven't read any of the stories before it? I have a list of books I want to read, and that's on it, along with the rest of the Sandman Universe books, but I feel I should read the actual Sandman series before I delve into these current series.
And I didn't say I didn't like anything, I said nothing comes off as memorable. There were books that I read and enjoyed, but they didn't stick with me as anything special.

What I do for the digital lists is basically 2 things. Things I keep going "I want this, but I'll wait until it's on sale." and things where I go "I want this, but it's a series I have little or none of so I wouldn't tend to buy it on my own."
So it's sometimes stuff I won't read immediately but was high on my "I kind of need/want this" list.
It being digital also means that anytime I have time to read I can look around and go "reading time", rather than worrying about going to a shelf that might have had dust collect or in the case of a few nice collections, that I never even unwrapped yet.

There's fanart of him, Sera and Zev reacting to suddenly having magic and it's amazing.
Other than that I'm not sure. DC has been a dumpster fire aside from Man of Tomorrow. I'm probably going to do my yearly read through of various indie #1s I've missed in a couple of weeks so I'll have to see about those then.

Salutations on Saturday, Sweeties! November 28th is all about speed. And distance. So probably also abut time, if you asked a scientitian. And it's also all about the good ol' US of A. You see, it was on November 28th, 1895 that the very first automobile race in the United States took place, in Chicago. Sponsored by Chicago Times-Herald, and therefore named the Chicago Times-Herald race, it took place over 54 miles and was won by J. Frank Duryea and his Motorized Wagon (pictured here pimping like a baller) in about 10 hours. There are people who ran ultramarathons faster, but let the baby have its bottle. But the average speed of 5.4 mph wasn't enough, so on November 28th, 1958 the US Air Force, or whatever it was called at the time, conducted the first successful full-range test of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, the SM-65B Atlas, which flew over 5500 *nautical* miles before hitting _close enough_ to the intended target, therefore dabbing on Duryea about 1,150 times. But that's still not enough, so just six years later, on November 28th, 1964 Mariner 4 was launched from Cape Canaveral (using a later version of Atlas missiles - up to SM-65D this time - as a booster. Nice connection there) and eventually completed the first successful flyby of Mars, sending pics back to Earth.

Ah, great, we're finally doing some storytimes. Hoping to do one or two later in the month. Thanks for posting.
Spectre of Christmas Future
If we’re doing storytimes, how about Flash #73?

Finally the most joyous time of the year is here, every year my life spirals more and more out of control, and yet every year one of you fuckers goes the extra mile and buys something to me in my third world shithole. I cannot explain how much this mean to me.

There's a dress character who's considered weird because he acts as a gentleman would in the sixties. He pops up random and gets bitched at. I forget his name but it's always fun to see.

>>119306009 Sincerely enjoying things has become passe/"Reddit"/"cringe" so any board that centers on media has taken a big hit. It hurts the most where /co/ is concerned because it used to be a top three board 10 years ago.

>>119306084 I cut my cable cord years before it became the fetish and I rarely watch animated series - at least on cable. The last thing I watched - and it was pirated versions or You Tube clips, was Justice League Action, so I have no way of participating in the cartoon/animated part of /co so didn't - when there's a movie I want to discuss, it's not very popular or the threads come and die while I'm not around.
And the discussion of the live action tv and theatrical just becomes more tiresome than not. So I was mostly around for the sequential art and that was always felt like the unwanted step-sister of /co even during popular events or books, but more so nowadays.
