I've actually had that fight and I'm amazed how genuine they portrayed it. Which is to say like any other kind of socializing moment/get together being broken up in favor of another. Instead of the level of dismissal I experienced growing up. Parties aren't better than video games. But some can be more important because of what and who they're about. This wasn't a pity birthday invite from an estranged classmate to a party no one he really knew was going to be at. It was an olive branch for a changing moment in a relationship that as far as Five knew Mitch was genuine about.
