Yea I remember the high pitched big headed guy had tourettes syndrome and would cuss randomly. He was the designated autist character but he was a good man, felt like everyone's kind and loving grandfather. I can't believe he yelled a racial slur in the series finale and got shot for it and died, I thought that was too much.

It still brings a tear to my eye knowing Quintel went the extra mile to make sure he got the perfect finale, and letting Pops say "nigger" on cable TV with hundreds of thousands of children watching was the cherry on top. Truly, he was a man of pure genius and Regular Show is his magnum opus.

I remember the episode where Rigby's hormones started acting up on a count of the steroids he was taking and he had the urge to fuck something so he went to the coffee shop, pulled down Eileen's panties and just started fucking her and she was like "damn shawty okay" while Rigby was like SHUT UP YOU STUPID BITCH AAAAAA and I was like "YO DID HE SWEAR I THOUGHT THIS SHIT WAS FOR KIDS" and then they played the song Come on Eileen when Rigby was shooting his manseed all over Eileen's face in classic Regular Show fashion. CN shouldn't have cancelled them mid-season, forced them to not say they were cancelled, and ruined the whole point of going to space by cutting the story short and making it just look like they jumped the shark for no reason to all average viewers.

Back in 2010 CN was actually actually experimenting with an "Adult Swim Jr." block (they weren't calling it that but that's what it was) with Adventure Time and Regular Show in the last half hour before AS. They were targeting a slightly older tween/teen demographic instead of 6-11. Also why you never head anything like "sexy vampire lady" after S1 of Adventure Time.

I was still shocked to hear a cartoon character say "pissed" on a pg show in an afternoon time slot. It was great. Then Gumball's censored dick in a cheer leader uniform. I'm glad we got stuff like this before they became so app centric.

In that video where Quintel runs through the storyboard for The Power you can see that it was written with profanity. They probably worked out how to iron that out pretty quickly when they realized it was going to be a daytime show but still.

"Pissed off" isn't really profane at all. I don't know if TV rules are different, but the MPAA is fine with it in a PG. At least Ghostbusters comes to mind.

Cartoon Network was trying to make its shows Simpsons-tier edgy to match the success of Total Drama Island, then bailed out when it hurt them internationally. But they kept the TV-PG ratings even though the shows are TV-Y7 in content level.

Yes, it's why there's like 50 things they setup with no payoff in the second half of the season. Mark Hamill tweeted when the series got cancelled before S8 aired but deleted it, but not before threads were made about it. They also dumped most of the episodes in 3 weeks with constant bomb-format bullshit and then tossed the penultimate episode of the series (which had continuity) to 12 PM saturday with no promotion.

I fucking hate CN.

I remember that the reason they went to space in last seasons is because they were at the writers table trying to figure out what to do next and then someone said "what if we go to space to pay homage to those classic series that jumped the shark by doing that?" They looked at each other and said "fuck it, lets go to space and get crazy with it." Truly a good way to end a show like this. If only adventure time took notes.

No it was something JG apparently always had the idea of doing but he wasn't sure how to foreshadow it beyond some Season 7 things. You seem to be mixing up what happened with Thomas who was originally introduced in a grand spectacle way only to be a silent background intern which people didn't understand the joke of and thought the writers gave up. They were in the writers room when someone said "what if he was a russian spy?" and they did that because it sounded cool and they loved old evil Russian action movies.
