>>118549366Yes, that's the point. The twins are sad about the reality of the situation and scared. But Duane's hardened the resolve of the one he wanted to help the most. That's what this has all been deliberately built up too, and it's a substantial part of why we have Duane destroying art on panel. It's a pretty simple character arc to follow.
Siya and Sara have been built up to be twins with substantial differences in personality, goals, and lots in life. Sara has, for all intents and purposes, an easier life and less room to speak to Duane about what she's speaking to him about right now. Siya's resentful of Sara and how 'easy' she has it and how 'small' her views are. Siya is passionate about life and wants to live. And she's connected to Duane, Duane sees her as a real person, and has offered her a direct, personal invitation to leave, as opposed to the more broad invitation he gave to everyone.
That's why what's coming next is all the more important narratively. Siya's going to shut Duane down hard for his attacks on the twins, the shrine, Gefendurism, destroying the masks, ruining the pageant, and otherwise generally making an ass of everything. She'll probably acknowledge their are flaws, but she'll back her sister up and lay things out in a more thorough way. Or she'll keep it brief and refuse to come with him. Either way, the message is clear. The two sisters are on the same page, and Siya, the girl that Duane wants to help most of all the kept twins and sees as a real person is going to be pushed considerably further away from Duane and much closer to her sister through this.
If any of the twins joins the party at this point it would be Sara so that Duane can learn to see her as a whole person too. But I find it unlikely either will, it seems more likely to me one will die in the upcoming fight, and the other one stays behind out of piety and duty, which will help prompt some growth from Duane, what this whole chapter is really about.
