I don't watch this show as I find it shit, but I did watch the previous Darkwing episode and this, and this one is really bad. I don't understand what it wants to be. Its rewriting the pilot worse, but it's constantly referencing key moments from it, but they don't work or make sense with the rewrite and only make sense if you know what they try to refer. The emotional impact on every moment is only a reference to the original. Like when Gosalyn sings a lullaby. It wants you to remember the heartfelt moments from the original and to search for that feeling when watching this rewrite of theirs. It really cheaply tries to fish emotions. The writing itself is garbage, as I've expect from this show. Everything is rushed, to a point I'm constantly confused how we got from point A to C. The show just drops on you that several days has suddenly passed and the reveal of this is that Darkwing has been contacting Gizmo every night for the past few nights, but it only happens here and now as they reveal it. The delivery of this is comical. Same when Gosalyn has to destroy the portal.
And yes, Gosalyn is shit. She is too competent, and it really hurts the chemistry between her and Drake. Again, all the little fights about "family" they have, none of it makes sense. At no point does she need Drake or Darkwing. They just get together, because thats how it is in original. And obviously, she's black, because spelling ginger correctly is impossible.
They better not turn this into it's own show. The whole premise is that they ape the original that they hold on a pedestal that they can never reach.
