>>118398387Not an origin story. She's living her life already.
Movie opens pre-credit with Zatanna performing for a small audience at a local venue. Her magic is clearly "real", but plenty of audience members naturally rationalize that it's a trick. She doesn't mind and doesn't bother to correct them. She goes on living her life as the credits roll. Buys groceries. Deals with traffic. Uses magic constanly in casual ways throughout. Establish to the audience that she is proficient and confident in her abilities, as well as comfortable with her lack of pants.
She gets an invitation to some far off venue. The pay looks good. The photo of the large theater is gorgeous and classic. She doesn't know the person that is inviting her, but there is some mysterious smell to the invitation so she decides to go. When she gets there, it's been in disrepair for decades. The name on the invitation belongs to someone that's been dead for half a century. She shoes the envelope to the people in the area. One of them conveniently collects stamps, and claims that the stamp is old as fuck too, and not really enough postage to get through today.
Unusual things are happening in the area. If there was a target to fight, her magic would make it easy, but so far it's just a mystery to solve with her wits.
"A plot", she is surrounded with suspicious and cranky characters, with motives and secrets. Perhaps some magical shenanigans are happening with unknown sources. Maybe a few murders.
"B plot", she'd like to put on a performance eventually, so fixing up this old theater and promoting the show, seems like a good plan.
"C plot" the jerks from the pro-pants league are angry about her daily casual wearing of fishnets.
