Sure i am not Moore, but Moore isnt really a 180 IQ genius, so everyone can understand Watchmen or analyse it.

You can take it to illustrate philosophical problems or story tropes, analyse written characters or behaviours. You, so it seems, just see distribution, fame or money. Besides if you create something new, the possibility that noone cares about is much higher. You really need good luck or a big company to establish something new. Humans tend to buy/watch/be interested in big things, things they know. Similar to /tv/ were you can see a big grow in a 3rd season. Many abondone the first season, but after they see, it still is big, they come back after the 3rd season. Not because they liked the first season, but because of herd mentality.
