Kandarian Demons are accidentally summoned by Brother Blood in Gotham as he reads from the Necromicon Ex-Mortis. As a result Deadites pop up in Gotham.

How does Batman fare against them?

Also, how would the rest of the justice league do? What would deadite possessed members of the league be like?

In almost every case, the soul is irreparably destroyed. I can see Batman and the League being dumb enough to try and "save" them, but it's just not workable. And Deadites spread exponentially unchecked.

Soemthing this thread hasn't brought up is that damn near anything can become a Deadite. Anything. Plants, animals, objects, buildings, alternate realms, bacteria, etc. The only things that have are immune or resistant are either things claimed by other demons (vampires and such) or Chosen Ones like Ash, who aren't fully immune even with their plot shields.

A Deadite infestation in DC will inevitably snowball until everyone is up shit's creek without a paddle.

The Deadites had only just entered reality and didn't have enough time to really get going before they got banished. We see in several cases what happens when Ash falls in driving them back at the cabin, they swarm and devour the world.

As shown in Ash vs Evil Dead and several of the comics, the woods are absolutely tainted even without the book actively holding the door open. There's a reason neither Ash nor anyone else goes there. The place is irreversibly corrupted.

Most likely. Deadites seem to possess all of the abilities and memories their victims had. And even if they lose that body, once they have the template they can recreate it as many times as they like as shown by how the demon hivemind always brings back Evil Ash if it gets the chance.

The Kandarian Demon is a demonic entity summoned forth from the Necronomicon ex Mortis, being basically an unseen force that manipulates, infects, and corrupts people (and places and objects and things) into extensions of itself. These extensions are thereby known as Deadites, being no longer the entity or thing they once were. All Deadites are just tiny miniscule parts of a whole, so the destruction of one doesn't impact the demon any.

The total set of powers that the Kandarian Demon has isn't really known and gets added to with each new addition to the franchise. The comics make it full-blown multiversal in terms of spread and reach, with most universes falling to the Deadites with or without Chosen Ones. We only follow Ash because he's the most successful of the lot.

Deadites don't need to kill you to possess you. Physical contact with them (or objects contaminated by them) is enough. Getting any blood or fluid on you, even if it doesn't breach the skin is enough to contaminate you and have them swallow your soul. Sometimes even less than that.

Anyone that cannot consistently fight from ranged is a liability and a resource that the Deadites can exploit.

Also worth noting that Ash is the "Chosen One", which in theory means that he's the only one that can really defeat the Kandarian Demons and resist their possession, and in practice mostly means he survives because every fight he has with a Deadite rapidly descends into slapstick comedy.

I'm convinced Deadites are mostly powered through fear, and Ash's "plot armor" is that he's the only one in the universe who just can't take them seriously.

I think Ash was scared at first, and that’s how he was vulnerable to possession. But after the events of evil dead 2 he’s half crazy and half full of rage so that’s why he isn’t afraid of them much. Also explains why army of darkness had them so much less scary from his POV

Deadites have possessed several non-human things. Gargoyles and werewolves in at least one universes, plants, AI, buildings, etc. Even entire dimensions, given that the Mirror Dimension is technically made out of them.

Superman and Diana wouldn't be safe. And Shazam certainly wouldn't.

A lot of Deadite attacks do seem to focus on building up fear, and possession only really seems to occur on people who've either been "broken down" a bit or are terrified into hysteria.

Meanwhile, at this point, Ash is both extremely used to them and their antics, and somewhat out of his mind. As far as he's concerned, they're not scary, they're just assholes. And as a result, around him... they just kind of 'be assholes'.

Holy places can prevent direct possession, as shown in a couple of the comics. But the instant they become tainted (which can be as simple as staining them with blood, demon or otherwise) they're free game. Spells are often shown to make you more vulnerable, not less. And Chosen Ones have immensely high resistance due to their canon plot armor, but even thag can be subverted with time. Basically nothing else works.

The only other way shown that something has ever prevented possession were those vampires in that one crossover because their souls were already damned and claimed, meaning they couldn't be subsumed by the Kandarian Demon. But it's unknown if this is a hard and fast rule Deadites have to obey, or if it's just them not caring enough to try.

They were obscene well before that. Marvel/Zombies just decided to focus on the capeshit stuff more than what would happen if the Deadites were ported in 1:1 like the comics. If that happened, things would've gone badly.

The garrison was barely holding the line, and the Deadites were 100% fucking with them.

That's the thing, the Deadites don't really care about taking you seriously. More often than not, they're going to mess with you before killing or eating your soul. The only one they took even remotely seriously was Ash because he's the Chosen One. Ash also happened to be the only reason Army of Darkness didn't end with everyone dying.

Had they killed Ash and gotten the book, they'd have accomplished their goals with ease. The defense of the castle was irrelevant.

I see it more as a panic thing.

Without Ash, the defenders would have done what they did earlier when faced with Deadites, and freaked out/acted ineffectually. With Ash around to lead them, they felt they had a chance, and the Deadite zombies became just... well, a lot of zombies and skeletons that can't be killed, but aren't very bright and can be held at bay or inconvenienced in all manner of ways.

Deadites are always at their most effective when the humans are panicking, but are also frequently defeated by Ash's less-than-brilliant schemes, and generally act a couple brain cells shorter than Ash is at any given time.

The main demon is completely unstoppable. The destruction of the Deadites is like losing fingernails for us, completely harmless long term.

And Evil Dead is full of powerful wizards itself. None of them have found a cure for Deadite possession. The soul is gone, irreversibly destroyed in the vast majority of cases. The only instances where someone recovers from being hijacked by Deadites come as a result of direct interaction with the Chosen One.

Evil Dead is a multiverse that at the very least, contains the Marvel cosmology within itself somewhere. Possibly DC too given >>118163958 and >>118163891. Amongst a whole fuckton of others due to extensive crossovers. The Kandarian Demon isn't even the strongest thing in the setting. Far from it in fact, it's a literal servitor to greater powers.

I think the deadites just want to cause panic and pain more than they want to actually win, and even when cajoled towards a goal by the book or a leader they still deviate to fuck around a lot.

As far as the DC universe goes the batfamily is the worst group to go against them since they'll try to contain/cure every single deadite and dismemberment of the body isn't going to be something they'll do. Generally though I think a universe full of superhumans can stop them, when they did the Marvel Zombies crossover the zombie heroes were enough to route the Necronomicon when it was really putting everything it had into stopping them.

I was going by the movies and maybe the season 1 of the show. The insta-kill possession thing is pretty overpowered and doesn't even rely on contagion, but the demon was pretty much contained before the first movie until Ash and friends fucked up, and then again between 2/3 and the show.

Deadites are just as durable as their hosts, If they posess a ton of skeletons and zombies, they can be broken easily. You can't KILL a deadite, but you can break it's physical body.

It's basically a massive expanded consciousness infesting and reaching into the entire multiverse. From what we know, the vast majority of realities it invades it succeeds in swallowing their souls, even with Chosen Ones around. We follow the various versions of Ash because they're the most successful at driving off the Deadites, at least for a time.

In truth, the Kandarian Demon is just a servitor to the Dark Ones. Its primary goal in any reality it manifests in is usually to open the doors and let them in.

A good way of looking at it is basically like one of Lovecraft's Outer Gods.

Let's be honest, so does Batman, and much of the Batfamily, in a crossover that isn't set in the Dark Multiverse. Even then he has good odds of overpowering the dark entities with his BAT WILL and becoming another evil Batman. Alfred might get killed/possessed for drama. Same as some of the Robin's. Gordon will do fine til some climactic point near the end, where he through sheer willpower shoots himself in the head. Babs cries. Batman looks down with shadows covering his face in sorrow. They win shortly after.

Yea, Ash's DC crossover should be Ash getting transported to Gotham by the book, Batman finds it and brings it to Jason Blood. Constantine gets word somehow and shows up. Batman gets possessed and goes to take out the JLA. Somehow the Joker gets involved to stop Batman too. Tommy Monaghan should appear too.
