Old SP at least used to avoid ham-fisted political messages, or they'd dress it up in absurdism. They'd at least space out the anvil-dropping with a few truly absurd premises.
Lately it's been nothing but heavy-handed. They love to gaslight with the whole "IT'S JUST A JOKE MAN" thing, but it's clearly not. That's an excuse they hide behind. They've started to turn the show into overt political propaganda with a few fart jokes or non-sequiturs thrown in so they can keep claiming it's just entertainment. Modern South Park is rapidly approaching John-Oliver-levels of ham-fisted messaging and I don't think Matt and Trey give a shit. They probably think, "Hey, we have this platform now, we earned it, let's use it."
Cartman has become a stand-in for everybody they disagree with.
