I haven't watched any new CN/Disney cartoons since 2016(-ish), except SU and SvTFoE. Are there any good current cartoons? Like, around the same quality of Gravity Falls, Star vs (pre-season 3) and Steven Universe (pre-season 4)?
I've heard Owl House is good but I have yet to try it.

i watched season one of Amphibia which I thought was okay. Some of the episodes telegraph their message too much but I still really enjoyed the setting and the characters. I haven't watched season 2 yet but I think it just went on the midseason hiatus. It's mostly episodic but there is a lot of continuity

Season 2 so far has been great and after the first episode up to now no town frogs so it’s mostly focusing on the planters and Anne. They introduced some new characters but none have been insufferable yet. Oh and there was a great Sasha focus episode again.

I was actually thinking about SVTFOE and Owl House, who's MC are just them in grade school or their roommate in grade school but if they were cool like they imagined themselves. It's kinda sad if you think about it.

Most of the long-form storytelling in Amphibiai is character-based. Anne's personality and relationships with other characters change over the course of the first season. I prefer this to overwrought teasing about how something is totally going to be really important later somehow (now let's not touch the topic for ten episodes)

Hilda is a wholesome cute fantasy with some dark magical themes every so often. It's often called "comfy" not sure what the means Tbh but maybe it will help you understand if you'll like it.

It has its fans here, but it isn't super popular because the Netflix model of dumping whole seasons at once means discussion doesn't last months like other shows. It's basically a fun, lighearted adventure show.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I've been enjoying Amphibia. It takes a bit to get into but the comedy, characters, and plot when expanded upon is fantastic.

It's not done yet, but between the three you mentioned I'd say the only one better than Amphibia was Gravity falls.

Wander Over Yonder was fantastic, and another example of McCracken being a titan in cartooning even now. The series got canned after the first little bit cos it didn't get any traction when it was forced into the DisneyXD mobile platform (just like how nothing can survive being sectioned off into an app). The fans did a big revolt to show their love and how it shouldn't get cancelled, so they gave it a last hurrah, but with no advertising, and ran it up against both halves of the Gravity Falls finale, Weirdmageddon.

It's been years since its final cancellation, and I'm still salty about how it went down.
