If anything I think shows these days are too quick to kill off any conflict that would disrupt the status quo.
Not that I minded it in Kipo. The tension was only there for an episode so the relatively small size of the payoff felt even.
It worked to get Wolf to open up and that's all it needed to do.
That said, it would have been interesting to have their relationship be affected by it, even if it was just Kipo ability to trust in Wolf subtly taking a small knock.
That said I also understand that she's a messianic archetype.
