>>117488474>Why would you think that dark magic is literally unique to humans when an elf probably invented it and Callum discovers that humans can do elfy magic?I'm not saying I think that, I'm saying that the elves likely don't know that. Or if any of them did, they kicked Aaravos out when he made it and kept it a secret so none of them would try it
>Because they need primal stones to do it? either primal stones are extremely rare (in which case human mages are limited to the point that humans need dark magic to be a magical society), or they're so common that there should be no way that modern humans don't know about them
>And why would they bring this stuff upbecause it's relevant to their argument
> THEY BOTH KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUTTHEY TALK ABOUT WAY LESS RELEVANT THINGS. Also, from an out-of-universe perspective why give the impression otherwise? There's no way without the side material that anyone can watch this scene and assume the humans can do regular magic. Or that humans wiped out the fucking unicorns, those are both hugely important details if they were canon and they're not hinted at at all
>When they arrive and start talking, it's clear both of them pretty much know what the trajectory of the conversation will beno it's not, Zaird is caught completely flat fucking footed because he thinks this is a negotiation and isn't considering that Regem might just fucking burn down his city if he doesn't immediately comply
>Ziard and Sol Regem both made up their minds before they met, they were mostly interested in trading barbs.again, Zaird leaves the human city unprotected, specifically sued for not being harmed (putting himself at the dragon's mercy)
this actually doesn't line up with the books at all, if the humans had done something as serious as wipe out a sentient race, there's no way Zaird just thinks this is going to be a negotiation, yet he treats it like one and is caught out when Sol Regem just decides to burn his city
