>>117441953Now why couldn't they have put that in the show, because the idea of "the world/destiny has a plan for you, but that doesn't mean it loves you" could be really interesting to explore. Like Rapunzel's whole life was just to be a disposable porter puts so many things into context:
Like how Frederick's fears that led him to try and keep Rapunzel from her destiny were actually completely valid.
And with Eugene's temporary betrayal I really wish he could have said that it wasn't that he didn't believe in Rapunzel, but that he didn't believe in the world, tying into the skepticism and cynicism he had displayed (most prominently in the monkey episodes, where Demanitus almost certainly knew what would happen).
And even how Adira, the biggest proponent of "destiny" frequently undercut and manipulated those around her to make herself look superior and thus more worthy of being listened to.
And how ultimately Rapunzel was saved not out of being a good person, but because she had unintentionally filled Cassandra with so much resentment that Cass childishly stole the Moonstone just because it was something Rapunzel wanted and Cass thought it would make her special.
Like, even if what we got was a lot better than it could have been, the missed potential still stings.
