We would say yes because if we didn't we knew we'd be in trouble because Mom took anything but praise as a veiled insult. She would do this at least once every summer while I was growing up, sometimes two or three times a year if she felt like buying more swimsuits because they had different frills or different colored patches to break up all the black, or more comfortable shoulder straps or leg holes or what have you.
I thought this was normal and everyone went through this if your mom liked to swim? Now I begin to get the feeling this was abnormal?
