>>116907915Blue did mention that they used to be very close, laughing and playing games together and Essence collection was always as a group.
The impression I got was Blue, Yellow, and Pink were created by White to help spread across Homeworld in the first place, which would be before Era 1 since the Eras refer you the Gem Empire/Diamond Authority. Then after they started to colonize other planets they began to treat Pink as inferior like she was a mix of Spinel and Pearl that they shared, which is why Gems made with Pink’s Essence are all the lowest ranking. This would have caused Pink to demand the right to colonize the next world to regain equal standing, and would have started them drifting apart as she became more and more of a nuisance rather than what kept them together.
After Pink faked her death White withdrew from society meaning that Era 2 is Blue and Yellow acting on their own for the first time, albeit while still wary of White. As I recall someone on the show staff, maybe Rebecca, said that Yellow’s main flaw was misuse of her power while Blue was responsible. Both seem to have broken White’s traditions, like how Yellow installed Diamond-only technology like FTL on ordinary ships and experimented with Fusion/Shards while they both broadened what was acceptable to survive in the Empire with prosthetics to make Era 2 Gems look like Era 1.
What is more interesting to me is the change in Blue. She was known as the executioner of the Diamonds during Era 1 to the point Garnet and Lapis were absolutely terrified of her, but in Era 2 her Pearl was fairly relaxed compared to Yellow Pearl and young Pearl. Blue also was hesitant to execute Steven and required a trial be held, wanted to spare Greg, refused to allow the Rose Quartzes to be executed, and quickly came around to the side of the Crystal Gems with minimal effort.
A Lapis episode showing how Blue and her Court changed between Era 1, 2, and the opium den it is in Era 3 would have been nice.
