>>116843926It’s like asking why G1 Transformers and Transformers Prime don’t seem to line up with Bayverse Transformers.
There’s multiple series which each have their own continuity. The problem is they mostly look alike. Plus the creator isn’t the copyright owner, but he has a good relationship with those who are so they let him add to the Tenchi continuities with his own stories. Some of which are mildly pornographic.
Also, radio dramas are almost never translated from Japanese and Tenchi Muyo has a lot of them.
The main three continuities are the OVA which is also called Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-Ohki for reasons I can’t remember, Tenchi Muyo: Universe, and Tenchi In Tokyo. The issue is the OVA only originally had two seasons, so Toonani mixed reruns of it with new Universe after they ran out. Which confused people.
The OVA is the universe where Ryoko is introduced as a mummy his grandfather kept in a shrine, Washu and Tsunami are gods, Mihoshi is Washu’s descendant and a universal paradox, Kagato and Dr. Clay are the main villains, and EVERYONE is related. Tenchi is revealed to be god and has kids with all the girls including a reborn female Kagato, Ayeka’s mother is the antichrist, his dad is also a Juraian. The series GXP about Tenchi’s cousin is canon here.
In Universe nobody is related. More comedic, far more action but a bit lower quality. Everyone is more mundane, just being cops and princesses and scientists and so on. Ryoko is the final girl, the rest move on with their lives. Introduces the idea of Ryoko doppelgängers, which is ported back into the OVA as her sisters. Mihoshi has a partner named Kiyone who hates her.
