Did you even read Flex Mentallo? The importance of superheroes and taking lessons from them is a core aspect of it. The lesson is that you shouldn't miss out on everything else that life has to offer by becoming obsessed or shut in.

It's a through line across Morrison's work. He explicitly writes about it in Supergods. Basically his position is that superhero stories have value but you should remember that they're entertaining fiction and don't lose sight of the real world. The flip side of this is that he disdains trying to apply reality to fiction.

Please, there is no overarching theme to anything in the Marvel movies. Everything is as deep as a puddle. Capeshit movies are like 40 years behind superhero comic books, when Moore or Morrison were actually experimenting with the medium and the complexity of superheroes.

Morrison never intended for his capeshit to be realistic and neither is he interested in exploring the real implications of it. Which is why I find guys like Waid, Johns to be pretentious. Capeshit is not realistic and they try to force it into the real world, where in the end, everyone just says "capeshit rocks".
