Ollies got in a new haul including Secret Wars Deadpool Secret Wars and A force, Infinity omnibus, Captain America Adamantium oversized HC, Miracle man HC V1, and the best fucking bargain all four walking dead compendiums for $10 a piece.

Also scored complete runs of Who's Who LOTSH and the Arcudi Doom Patrol and have a bunch of Bronze Age Green Lanterns, full run of Eclipso, Battle for the cowl, and the first Giffen/Demattius Dr Fate mini on its way via eBay....

I caved and finally bought V2 260-282 awhile back when the revived bronze age line stalled out. The letter pages were pretty upfront running damage control, claiming that said Conway run was more or less "artist driven" editorially and there are about 4-5 IIRC Ditko issues in-between the more well received Dark Man/Stargrave-Reflecto arcs. And that the artists were basically calling the shots and Conway's scripts based off of what Ditko and company wanted to draw

Dredd is my main man.
I've read all progs/megazine/specials to date. He is literally the only character I still follow week by week. I don't even read much of the other stuff in the progs or mags.
Should note I also read any Psi-judge Anderson story.

Simping detective may be out of print. I got it years ago but sold it when I got the hardcover version in the mega collection despite it lacking the text only story I didn't see the point in having 2 copies.

Also, it should be noted that the last two issues of Showcase 1996 (#11-12) have a LEGION/Archie Legion crossover story which has Vril and Brainiac 5 team up against Post-Crisis Brainiac and serves as a coda for the entire LEGION/REBELS run with Brainiac wrecking Colus to the point that they are only just now recovering in the 30th Century. Along with furthering the plot point that the future descendant who's soul Vril sold instead of his own was Brainiac 5's mom's soul.

I haven't read very far into it yet, but so far it's a little so-so. The artist is pretty good at drawing landscapes and monsters, but his humans look stiff and unfinished. The comic also doesn't flow well, both because of the panels themselves and because of how the speech bubbles are placed.

It also feels like the story isn't adapted particularly well. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it kinda feels like there's too much exposition and tell over show while the comic also fails to build suspense and story.

I can probably throw the pdf onto mega if anyone wants to check it out though.

And I just finished No Longer Human. As far as his ability to tell a story I think its his strongest work ever. The horror isnt quite as clever/silly but this one actually cut me deep. Highly recommend

I just finished Showa 1944-1953 and read the last of Edlund's Tick months after reading issue 11. I think Silverfish will be next, and then I'll try Wonder Woman Earth One.
As for floppies, I've been working my way through some of the New 52's Dark imprint. I've finished Animal Man and made it to the Villain's Month issue of Swamp Thing. I'll pick up some of Frankenstein this week.
Any opinions on Sword of Sorcery? My LCS has the trade half off, but I can't remember if it was well received here when it was coming out.

I got the first trade of Demon Knights years ago, but after hearing that it really goes downhill towards the end I've lost most motivation to continue it. Agree on Animal Man and Swamp Thing. I was a bit concerned since I've seen people say the crossover derailed them, but reading the two titles alongside each other let them synergize so well. So far Soule's Swamp Thing feels just a bit "off" in a way I can't place, but I think it won't last long. I read the first volume of Frankenstein at the library when it was new and am excited to go back to it. I just wish that I knew it had some Rotworld tie-ins earlier so I could have read them alongside the main story.
Not sure if I want to read JLD. I think I'll read Secret Seven first and decide based on that.

I've been reading through Reboot LoSH through fan repacks. I just finished Legion Lost, and can definitely see why Marvel hired DnA for cosmic stuff a few years later.
Come to think of it, the Blight stuff was sort of similar to Annihilation: Conquest.

I'm an artist (interiors mostly). Yeah I'm starting to have second thoughts about it - I love the medium like nothing else but it's chump change compared to practically every other commercial art field, and it's such a small industry that your opportunities are incredibly limited, especially if you're not in vogue or fall within the publisher's stylistic wheelhouse. And that's without even mentioning how poorly artists are generally treated. $100 per page at most mid-tier publishers to work 7 days a week scrambling to churn out a full issue in often 4-5 weeks, it's downright abusive.

Being able to crack the monthly grind is probably the biggest barrier for entry as a comic artist. Some people just aren't able for it, and I don't blame them - you really have to love the craft to subject yourself to it. I see a lot of illustrators who fancy themselves as comic artists and they just can't cut it - you NEED to know when enough is enough with a panel and move onto the next, or the perfectionism you covet will draw you and your team down and delay the book.

Comichron reported 885 sold copies of the second volume, so it was hovering around that limit.

If it's a person who I see as an equal to me, ergo fast and athletic, I would choose my Absolute World's Greatest Superheroes HC. Gives me an advantage when it comes to striking fast and it has those sharp and hard edges that I need to put an end to my opponent. Once I strike the opponent down, I'd definitely make him eat a page of Peace on Earth so he knows that he will never be able to start shit ever again

If the person is shorter than me but not necessarily fat, I'd definitely dual-wield my two 52 TPBs. Imagine Bruce Lee with his nunchucks but 52 weeks of ass-whooping, comicbook style! I would also be able to unleash a Crisis on multiple opponents, I am positive about that.

If the opponent is fat, I would definitely use my Grayson Omnibus. See, it's not the thickest but it's big and light enough to actually cave someone's head in while not costing me a fortune to buy another one. It's also not OOP so that's a huge plus. Also, my rival's guts would probably translate well to the white cover. Heh, nothing personnel.

If a hardcore nerd tried to beat me, I'd just throw a paperback of Ultimatum on the ground and listen to him bitch and moan about it till he dies of thirst.

Double dipped hard on that one, I had their original release of it already but it's an all-timer.

I buy a lot less from them than I used to now that they're less of a pure horror label though. As much as I love Withnail & I it's not really the sort of film I'd choose for them to be focussing on when there's loads of niche horror stuff that's never had a decent release before they could be putting out instead.

I personally think last time was a fluke. I think it was a perfect storm of lower printing numbers possibly due to the pandemic and sliding supply numbers to coincide with the drop off of sales from release to release, and then IST also putting it up as one of a few 50% deals that week which gave it a ton of visibility.
I'm less concerned with the Solomon Kane DM variant, anyhow. One sole book with a shit cover won't flare my autism like interspersed shit covers in a collection of 20+ books would.

There are 10 volumes in total. Vol. 1 translation is a bit clunky but after that it gets better. Keep in mind that the first 5 volumes are based in dark horse recolored reprints and there is no covers for each issue. price/quality wise it's a steal imo.

I have the Plague SC, and I'm not jealous of the people with the HCs after getting 1946-48. They're normal sized and glued. The later half of that omni was a little hard to read.
They definitely look better on a shelf, but I'm surprised this series hasn't been given real respect in their premiere format.

Found a stupid deal for the BPRD Plague of Frogs hardcovers. Can't seem to find vol. 2 of Hell on Earth anywhere for a decent price. Hoping I can snag one somewhere down the line. I received this from Amazon and I'm not very happy about the rip. So I'm trying to decide on if I should get it replaced. Some friends have said it isn't worth it, and to just try hot gluing it back together. But I'm just not sure. Is it worth returning or to try fixing it?

I'll be honest, it does bother me. But I'm just not sure if I'm being unreasonable in this case. It isn't a huge tear by any means, and the book is still plenty readable. But I just feel bad when I start reading it, I'm worried that it will just get bigger and result in an actual problem down the road.
