Yeah. What really gets me riled up it's the Gurren Laggan rip off. Why make a show so inventive and unique (that also wears its reference's proudly sure, like Ronin and a thousand others) and then end it with a subpar version of something else? With that said, just like Bubbline, it didnt soil the show for me at all. I can still watch Individual episodes of AT and SJ and have a ton of fun. Even the finale of both have some cool moments and visuals.

100% this, Jack's final fight with past Aku was dull as fuck and future Aku was never even seen disappearing or something. Why didn't he do anything meaningful to stop them, anyway? Ashi shouldn't have vanished. If we were legitimately following the rules Jack would have no reason to grieve because all of his memories would vanish as these events happened/existed. Basically he wouldn't remember anything between Aku tossing him into the portal and killing Aku, and Ashi would have evaporated instantly.

Basically it was just contrived to be a knife twist, for drama I guess.

This would have been a good moment to have all of Jack's friends stop Aku from chasing after them and acknowledge that they might never see Jack again or even cease existing. The transition from the fight and then straight to the past is so jarring it needs something like this to pad the transition out.

No. At least Jack & Ash got established fairly quickly to the final season. Korrasami just came out of nowhere to score those sweet woke points and to get headlines how once again lesbian romance has never, EVER done in cartoons before. Not that it was the first time, Season 1 KorraMako was also awkward as fuck, it played out like your typical bad romance novel plot, except the writers forgot the part where the couple was supposed to be slowly warming up to each other. It just went from straight to "I don't like you"-phase to "I realize I've always loved you!" in a split second.

Point was at least that plot device was well established. It wasnt just a thing that happened out of nowhere for no real good reason. Its the difference between telling a rather lukewarm joke that everyone's heard before, and telling a joke that is just you screaming a random word out loud. At least the first joke was properly structured as a joke, latter one just made feel everyone awkward.

And that's the biggest problem. From the second Ashi shows up it's obvious she's the special Daughter of Aku that was going to turn good, and from there it's not at all a leap to figure out she's meant to be a love interest and what that might entail. Everything about her story is plain and obvious from the second she has that one glimpse at that butterfly.

No, it would've been better to either not include her at all, or space out her characterization over a couple more episodes. Since the former is implausible for the story Gennedy wanted to tell, the latter is the way to go. And the way to facilitate that is also obvious.

Punished Jack needs to be removed. The 50 year time skip, and Jack growing a beard after angsting over losing the sword don't serve a purpose in the narrative. Him being haunted by that ghost samurai thing which is symbolic of his failings takes up a lot of screen time that could've been used to develop Ashi's character an their relationship instead. There's no point in trying to inject a failure into Jack's character arc if he gets to undo it anyway thanks to Ashi's powers. There's no point in him learning to accept his shortcomings if time travel means he doesn't actually have to live with them. Remove Punished Jack and you free up screen time to tell the story they wanted and ended up telling.

What makes me so confused about punished Jack is the fact he has helped and seen his own people around the future, preserving their culture. He has confidently killed human beings without a second thought and has dealt with the struggles of losing his home from visiting the areas Aku has destroyed.
