Toph was the total opposite. She was sheltered, spoiled, given everything she could possibly want, yet was mad because she was too privileged and well off and she didnt like that her parents cared about her.
I dont see what zuko and toph have in common. Mai is upper class too and fits the "seeking parental approval" category at least a little better than toph does, so if that's the reasoning then maiko makes more sense than tokka right off the bat.
