The movie, and their standing in both comics and popular culture, would have been much better off if the film simply wasn't titled Batman *vs* Superman. Supes was already on shaky ground, and positioning him as a cuck antagonist to based edgy Batman just diminished him so much further.

I used to be more of an edgy batfag. Then I came to respect Superman as a better hero, but still liking Batman the most. Now I hate both, or what they've become, thanks to DC and the fucking casuals that buy shit. Why Superman have this persecution complex regarding Batman?
DC editors and writers haven't been trying to turn Superman into Batman. They are actually a bunch of silver age fanboys self conscious about Superman not being as popular anymore as they think he should and because they're silver age fanboys they think that the secret formula to make Superman stand out is to showcase him as a loner and distant godlike being with none of the Clark Kent, Kent parents or Lois Lane bullshit. Because that's what they think is what made Superman lose his appeal over the years. They blame John Byrne's humanist take for "Marvelizing" Superman. But their make-overs never work with the public for long.

Batman has nothing to do with any of that shit.
