That's like sticking two rabbits in a pen and expecting them not to immediately start multiplying.
Exes are more likely to make logical choices regarding their relationship because they've been there, done that, and they've been shown that their partner is willing to hurt them even if they're in a relationship and supposed to be loving each other.
If you're implying that Adora's sore feelings about what Catra did should have been more powerful than her amorous feelings, then 1 - Adora's been spending the whole show dealing with Catra's actions, she's already had years to process that and the relief of finally seeing her make a turn around and return to her side was immense, 2 - I don't think any main character in this show would reject a former friend for more than a week if that friend showed they wanted to be friends again and 3 - Love is Stupid, love is blind, and you have to understand that Catra making a sacrificial gesture and then also becoming a damsel that Adora needed to save is very much appealing to Adora's hero sensibilities, and were the exact buttons that needed to be pushed to make her rapidly soften her heart for Catra.
If Catra just walked up to Adora one day and said, "I give up on this Horde business, it sucks, I've come to my senses and I want to be your friend again" then I think - even though she wouldn't turn her away if she was convinced she was for real - it would have taken a long time for Adora to move past what she did and fully soften up to her again.
Personally, I don't care if a hetero relationship in a movie is logically bad if they manage to make me feel for them. The problem is that so few manage to make me feel for them.
