>>116326644I'm a huge Rocko fan, and to be honest, I really disliked Static Cling. It felt like a huge middle finger to the audience.
The first half was pretty fun, then the second half with the trans topic happened. Let me be clear, I have no real issues with lgbt peeps, but this was a pretty blatant hamfisted message. There have always been some liberal leanings in Rocko, but for the most part, it was just zany fun. The issue I have with Static Cling is that it sort of scolds the audience in a backhanded manner. It shames people who yearn to relive past enjoyment, and in reality, there is nothing wrong with that. People like stuff they enjoyed when they were younger and it's not a bad thing, I mean, Stranger things is pretty much an 80s circle jerk millennials watch with fondness, and even niche things like old school death metal and retro videogames literally have a devout following of people who enjoy them for their fundamental purity. Static Cling wants to push the "change is good" mentality, but that type of outlook is something walmart managers tell their employees, because change isn't always good, but rather, an improvement is good. Static Cling didn't improve Rocko, instead it used a retail style mantra to push an agenda
