The PR and social media teams were tasked to stay on top of the BLM shit, and to respond correctly. Can you imagine antifa pulling their statue stunts on the slaveowners in the Hall of Presidents? But the woke edge went WAY beyond their authority and announced changes to shit without consulting the rest of the company, claiming that it was an absolutely vital move, and that not announcing this move right now would destroy the company.. Most importantly, they skipped every single engineer in imagineering and accounting, and announced shit at the concept sketch phase.
Internally, some of the woke motherfuckers were thinking, "if we announce it publically, they can't go back on it", and "It's a great time to make big changes to the ride as it's out of commission because of covid". Of course they're stupid social media dumbfucks who have no idea how fucking expensive it is to do a proper job of it.
