also size of market is a crude measure that doesn't cover unit sales (higher unit sales, broadly speaking, means higher overheads as there's a minimum expected quality of printing; lower unit sales would be better in some ways but actually indicate a shrinking market selling goods with a high cost barrier to new consumers, which is bad for long-term sales), doesn't cover types of outlet (whether they're being delivered digitally, direct via mailshot subscription direct to the publisher, through an LCS middleman retailer, through a larger brick and mortar chain) etc etc etc
