Just do it.
Do that /34/
Do that meme that's trending.
Do release those silly doodles you do that you don't think are worth anything (but to someone who can't draw, they're gold)
Do that fetish
Hell, even do a furry commission, even if it's like Zootopia or something fairly normie.
Fucking do it.
You'll gain followers, you'll get people begging you to open commissions. And then when you're popular, you can do whatever the fuck you want. And you'll lose people who only want to see their favorite thing, but you'll have enough of a core fanbase that will hang on your every pic, that you'll be set.
Being your own boss means selling yourself. Too many artists want to pretend they do art for a living and then treat it like a hobby: only doing what THEY want, when THEY feel like, and refusing high paying jobs because "I don't wanna be known for that." You don't have to feel awesome about every single pic you do, you aren't fucking Picasso, that pic you did of Spongebob vaping won't get found at a yard sale in Melbourne and tarnish your legacy after its sold for $300K in a hundred years.
Just do it already. Stop whining and do it.
